Happy spring from Gulf Shores Rentals! The new season is bringing joy to many as the cold weather comes to a close and the beach weather arrives. Our city is blossoming with the flowers as we welcome some new changes to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Through all of the newness, we are still sticking to tradition with the Strawberry Festival just around the corner.

The Annual Strawberry Festival is a staple in Baldwin County. It all began in 1987 as a fundraiser for Loxley Elementary School and the ARC of Baldwin County. All proceeds are split between the organizations. Last year, they did a grand total of $45,600 — that is $22,800 per organization. Thanks to all who attended! With 180+ arts and crafts exhibits, over a dozen food vendors, a carnival, children’s games, live music, and even an antique auto show, this festival is sure not to disappoint. This year’s festival is April 14 and 15 at Loxley Municipal Park and admission is FREE!

There have been some major changes to the roadways in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Many vegetated medians have been placed on the beach road (State Highway 182) to enhance the flow of traffic. A couple of new traffic lights have been installed at the entrance to Romar Public Beach Access Point as well as near Romar Village and The Sands Condominiums. More medians are planned to be added along State Highway 182 as part of Phase 2 of the U-turn project. City workers have also been installing sprinkler systems along the medians to keep the flowers looking beautiful. These changes will make the beach road more accessible and please our locals and vacationers.

Gulf Place is almost here! Since September 2017, the city has been working very hard to make our beaches more accessible with the brand new public beach and parking area. The park will have an east side and a west side, each on either side of The Hangout. This is all in effort to make a safe, walkable public activity area and the results are beautiful. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on April 26, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.

Come check out the new additions to our city! We are all very excited to see these changes happen just before our eyes. It is only going to get more beautiful from here on out. We appreciate everyone who chooses to vacate to our city and we hope that you make memories to cherish forever. Come support Loxley Elementary and ARC of Baldwin County while you stuff your face with strawberry cheesecake and check out amazing crafts at our 31st Annual Strawberry Festival!

No matter old or new, there is always something to do here in our beautiful area.
